This promotion line raises Lukas' speed to a level which actually allows him to double enemies consistently. In having perfect availability in Alm's route, Lukas is perhaps the best candidate for the Pitchfork, a free DLC item which allows him to reclass to a villager at the Thieves' Shrine and afterwards reclass to a Mercenary. After a solid performance in Act I, Lukas is hampered by the constraints of the Soldier line and falls behind in general combat performance, stats, and utility.įortunately, Lukas does have one saving grace that allows him to be useful beyond Act I. Since Lukas will end up with movement so much lower than his peers, he will frequently end up isolated and be pestered by them. ![]() Lukas' perpetually low movement also puts him at constant risk of being attacked by Witches which can warp anywhere on the map and target isolated units. This weakness can be alleviated by using Silque's Warp on him, but since Silque can only warp once per turn, Lukas faces serious competition for this preference from units who are simply better. Second, the four movement of all armored classes makes it very difficult for Lukas to keep pace with the army on the massive, empty maps of this game or reach the few choke points to make use of Lukas' tankiness. After the villagers promote and become more competent units, Lukas can still fulfill his niche as a tank and safely weaken enemies for offensively limited units, i.e. Lukas is perfect for setting up kills for the villagers to reach promotion level, and as long as he has food equipped he faces essentially no risk of death in doing so. Lukas starts out as one of your strongest units, already having enough speed to double essentially all early game enemies, save for Mercenaries and the occasional boss, as well as enough defense to take little damage from enemy counterattacks.
